He graduated from Duluth (MN) Central High school in 1943 and then attended Harvard University. In March of 1944 he enlisted in the US Navy and served until the end of World War II in Biloxi, Mississippi. In 1948 he graduated from Harvard. He briefly taught at Kiskiminetas Springs School in PA. Music was a big part of his life, beginning at age 8 with a church boy’s choir in Champagne, Ill., then in Harvard’s Glee Club and as a flutist in their Marching Band, and various church and community choirs throughout his life including Capella Cantorum. In each community where he lived, the excellence of the church choir was of utmost importance.

Mr. Sandin is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ann née Creswell, their three children Katherine Eckerson and husband Charles, of Little Rock, Arkansas; Elizabeth Bush and husband Robert of Glastonbury; and Paul Eric Sandin and wife Victoria of Brookline, NH; and 9 grandchildren, Daniel, Jennifer, Valerie, Sarah and husband Luke, Emily, Benjamin, Anna, Conor, and Alex. He is also survived by a sister, Anna Ruth Sandin Masters of Haddam Neck, CT, and extended family and friends.
